Wild West

We made it thtough Nebraska and well into Wyoming on Thursday. Cheyenne and Laramie were not much. After a little walk around we moved on. The country out here reminds us of the old "High Plains Drifter" movie with Clint Eastwood. The sky and land is so big, it alters your perspective. Stayed in Rawlins, Wyoming Thursday night. There's so much constuction - they seem to be laying a huge pipeline. Friday was a drive through the rest of Wyoming and into Salt Lake City - which was very interesting. Stopped at the Bonneville salt flats - amazing. The Pathfinder was a little loaded down for a real fast time though. We then drove into Nevada and stayed the night in Elko - Casino country Marion!
Weather has been in the mid to upper 90s during the day - but dry - actually feels good.
Looking forward to seeing Winnemucca, NV where Bill's parents spent a year on a construction assignment. Then we are on toward Reno.

Down the road a bit....

Almost heaven, West Virginia … then the rain.

Smooth sailing through Indiana and camping in Western Indiana ( Crawfordsville, on I-74 ).
Wow, there really is a Peoria, right in the middle of Illinois. Crossed over the Mississippi River and found ourselves in beautiful, exciting Iowa - land of corn and the bridges of Madison county. We really appreciated the wireless internet at all the rest stops in Iowa –can you imagine NJ doing that?
Bill Bryson would be amazed and proud of his home state.

Looks like camping in Nebraska tonight a little west of Omaha. Yep, here we are west of Omaha and they are having the NCAA baseball world series. People from all over. Great campground and the wireless works – Yeah! Nothing like using your computer in the tent. Oregon beat UC-Irvine – too bad McCorkles!

Day 1

Well here we are camped south of Pittsburgh in Washington, PA. Hot day in the 90s but starting to cool off now ( 9:00).
Just hanging out in the tent listening to Corinne Bailey Rae. Feel like I traveled across the galaxy today from last day at Cherokee to a little campground in Western PA. So far so good - but I have to admit to exhaustion.
Good night.

We should be packing

Okay so we should be packing - but setting up the blog is more fun. We've been reading the Scotticus blog and are hooked - he's the son of Wayne Partenheimer and is on a cross country road trip - his blog is great stuff.

So we decided to try this for our trip. We're newbies to blogging - so be patient - haha.

We leave tomorrow if we ever finish packing! Tomorrow is my last day of work - ever. Then we go AWOL for a while. But we'll try to post when we find WiFi and keep in touch.

Remember " Not all who wander are lost!"
